End the Madness, Monique!!!

The header above is what a member sent me in an e-mail stating our new member Jennie. I am happy to announce that she shouldn't be bothering anyone anymore, because I am now introducing CHECKS into my site. When ever a member of mine is not behaving towards another member, they get a check in their inbox. Three checks and your account is deleted and you cannot come back, ever.

I hope my members take this seriously, because Jennie already has two checks, so if she bothers anyone once more she will be deleted. And since I cannot read any of your e-mails to each other, if Jennie or any other member contacts you with a threat to retreat from the drawing competetion, or anything else that you don't think should be distributed between members, please, e-mail me or leave a comment on my member page and I will take care of it.

I am not adding checks to take away fun, I am adding them to keep my members SAFE from "Cyber Bullies".

A Cyber Bullie is a person who's main purpose on the web is to make others fell bad about themselves. If there is a competition, such as the drawing competition, a Cyber Bullie will do anything to DISQUALIFY members and make them afraid that something will happen to them PHYSICALLY if they compete or win.

Cyber Bullies can be either funny or scary, and mostly they can be scary. They will sometimes send random e-mails to a member on a website saying "I know where you live." or "If you win this competition I will find you.".

Cyber Bullies are usually kids at schools who don't like a certain kid, they will try to dig up the child's e-mail address, and they will harass them until they reach a state were the child is emotionally dead.

Cyber Bullies are scary, and the reason why I am taking this so seriously is because I too was harassed by one.

A few years ago, when I was just starting to write my books, I decided to join a website to get inspiration for my books. I had a friend on this website, and we would always e-mail each other and send messages in things called Shoutboxes. a ShoutBox is like a phone online, and you can text others about what you are doing.

Well, a girl named Tina found the shoutbox we used, and as soon as I told her I was writing a book she began taunting me with horrible comments, telling me my book is a failure already if I'm writing it, and how nobody would ever buy it.

I told her it was a Practice book, a simple book that stretches my writing skills so I can begin writing bigger, better books, and that this book would never be published.

Once she knew that she couldn't get to me with my writing, she began taunting me to the point that I couldn't go on my friends website anymore, because Tina was saying for she'd find my house and kill me.

I was so emotionally caught that I couldn't write anymore, I wouldn't answer the door for a single soul, and I would tighten myself up in a ball and stay in bed.

Yes, the Cyber Bullie almost killed me physically.

A year after no contact with my friend, she began worrying about me, and said it was okay not to go on her website anymore.

We began e-mailing again, Email Email, not Shoutbox Texting.

To this day I fear anyone named Tina, but that's okay, I'm getting over it.

This is why I want my members to stay SAFE from the Cyber World. Its fun and educational, but just like the real world, its filled with criminals and killers.

I thank you, Monique, for bringing this to awareness. A Cyber Bullie can push you to the point of deep depression, emotional death, and suicide.
I too was the victim of a Cyber Attack (so my mother called it). I was around 12, I was always finding some new social site and joining it to make friends with my schoolmates. I'd enter chat rooms, shoutboxes, and I e-mailed people I didn't even know! Well, a person who wasn't who he said he was found a website that I used the most, and he pretended to be a twelve year old girl. We became friends, emailing each other, sending pictures of each other on vacation. Well, soon the person said they would like to meet me in person, they said they lived in tennessee, not far from where I live. I agreed, but when I told my dad and mom they said no and gave me a lecture about it. I had to abandon who I thought was my best friend. I read all the emails they sent to me, and I never responded. Soon, the person became mad, and started cursing in the e-mails and demanding to know where I lived. My parents read the emails and the police got invloved. They traced the source of the emails, and the person lived right next door! The photos of the young girl were fake too, and it turned out to be a fifty year old man. I was so scared, I cancelled all my accounts online. I didn't respond to any emails from anyone except people I know in real life. This is the first social network I have been on for years, and I feel safe in it, knowing the owner of the site is a well known writer, and that she keeps track of all her members.
I hope my experience will help kids my age and younger learn that not everyone is who they say they are.
